This is where our homeschool story begins! I plan to write about why we have chosen this route, what we have planned (and what we don't have planned) and all kinds of updates, adjustments, experiences, things we learn along the way. Please stay tuned if you feel so inclined.

Well, Hello There!

Well, I set out to keep a blog updated on this homeschool journey, and it's about damn time for my first real post. I have written this post over and over in my head, at different times and stages of this school year so far and to be honest, I couldn't quite pin down what I wanted or needed to say and I never felt like I had the amount of time I wanted to sit down, process, and write. Such is life, especially with kids, and that lack of time is felt even more when you have decided to be the educator of two of your kids for a year. I started writing, back in May, a whole post about why we made this decision. I clearly never finished it. I do plan to, though. But for today, I would rather do a big word vomit about what we've been up to, things I have realized, and so on. What are we even doing?

Greetings, all two of my readers! I hope this blog post finds you well and in a stress-free position in advance of the upcoming holidays. I thought that, before my own life gets holiday crazy, I would try to sit down and process our general routines and "stuff we do" - sort of as a means of preparing for next semester and also, as a means of thinking through our plans for school next year, as the application deadlines for the 2020-21 school year are fast approaching and I need to be figuring out what we want to do as a family. No sweat, right? In the Beginning... I guess I should talk again, briefly, about how we got to this place. In a nutshell, we decided to take this year away from traditional school, initially because I began to develop strong feelings that kids don’t have a lot of time and freedom to just be kids these days. Just to go outside and play, or be bored, or come up with experiments or create stuff just to feel the awesome good...
